Radio Chronicles

Radio Chronicles – July 29, 2007

Hear stories about people who lived through – and died during the period which included the Summer of Love, as they talk about what life held for youth in the Haight-Ashbury District of San Francisco. Included are excerpts from revolutionary leader Che Guevara and Civil Rights leader the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. from the Pacifica Radio Archives, Todd Gitlin, professor of sociology and journalism at Columbia University, and KPFA Morning Show Co-Host Phillip Maldari, who was trying to obtain an education at UC Berkeley while surrounded by protests, police brutality, teargas episodes and even murder. Hear, too, a preview of the upcoming film, Following Sean, which airs Tuesday 31 July on P.O.V. on PBS. It’s all about the sixties and counter culture this Sunday on The Radio Chronicles on KPFA.
