Voices of the Middle East and North Africa - Ilan Pappé dsicusses his latest book tilted “Out of the Frame"

This week’s program: Democracy in the Middle East and North Africa; Tunisia, Egypt, Iran, Yemen, Bahrain…, but does that concept extend to Israel/Palestine and can democracy be reconciled with colonialism, or is that a contradiction in terms?

In his latest book, Out of the Frame, prominent Israeli scholar Dr. Ilan Pappe examines this question in depth while recounting the tale of his political evolution from staunch Zionist as a youngster to liberated humanist as an adult.

Ilan Pappé, is Professor of History at the University of Exeter in the UK, where he is also Co-director of the Exeter Center for Ethno-Political Studies, and Director of the Palestine Studies Centre. He is author of the bestselling The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine, A History of Modern Palestine, The Israel/Palestine Question, and is a long time political activist.
